Add a spiral binding!

 on July 10, 2017

I just started yoga a few months ago and this book has been a great reference to review all the poses I have learned. I got it spiral bound at Staples for around $6, which really helped being able to use it while practicing!

just fantastic

I will mirror close to everyone else who has reviewed this product in saying that if it was spiral-bound it would go from being a great book to a near-perfect book. But the occasionally difficult-to-manage perfect binding is not a major deficit to a very well conceived and organized book. Not only are the asanas arranged according to general bodily position (sitting, standing, etc), but they also are arranged in a sequence that flow, so the following is one that would realistically be something that would follow the preceding. So you can intuitively hash out where the position you want is without having to return again and again to the index. At least that’s my experience.

I love this yoga bible

I love this yoga bible! I’m newer to yoga and the content of the book has all the information I want to know about yoga. The postures are well explained with different options for novice or advanced and includes great pictures. The pages are printed on quality paper and the size of the book makes it easy for travel. Like others mentioned, the binding makes it difficult for the book to stay open so I got a spiral bound put on it and I’m very happy on how it turned out – it was only 7 bucks. Thanks Fedex, nice job.

I would recommend this book!

I’ve really enjoyed this book, though it may be small and thick it has a ton of information and with use it won’t be as stiff.

A beautiful and fantastic fully illustrated book for anyone interested in Yoga.

I have been into the martial arts and physical fitness all my life. I have recently included yoga postures into my regular workout routine. Whenever I get into any fitness program I read as much as possible about the subject. In the case of yoga, I have read numerous books and articles lately and I must say this fantastic book (The Yoga Bible: The definitive guide to yoga postures by Christina Brown) is the best book I have ever read on yoga. This incredible volume has over 170 yoga positions and they all are in full color showing the postures.

Get it spiral bound

This book has the level of detail that I was looking for with pictures to go along with it. Gives you counter poses as well as ways to lighten it for the days when you need to. At the recommendation of another reviewer, I got it spiral bound so it would lay flat. Highly recommend doing this. Our Office Depot did not have the right cutting equipment. I took it to a local place and they did a perfect job on it. It cost me $6.50 and was done within 15 minutes. Now it’s perfect.

Really helpful teaching companion

This is a really wonderful addition to my growing yoga book collection. I was recently certified to teach and am always looking for new poses to add to my rotation, this book provides plenty, at varying levels. Each pose has a detailed description, explaining how to get into the pose and also how to hold the pose correctly. It also offers suggestions for modifications. I like that the book utilizes the non-Sanskrit names for the poses as most students will be more familiar with these terms. I do wish the book’s binding was a bit more malleable for ease of use while practicing. Lastly, Lion pose on p. 111 was an interesting surprise and not one I think I will be including in my rotation!

Nice addition to your yoga library.

Nice addition to your yoga library. Book is very thick with a standard book binding, so it won’t lie flat when open, which would be a big plus.

The Yoga Bible

I purchased this yoga book for my girlfriend. She has found it rather helpful when she does her routine. To be quite clear, something like this is rather unnecessary with the internet in hand, but she loves to have an actual book in hand. It was a nice surprise for her. The only downside to this book was the size. It’s very small, maybe half the size of an average book. Not that it matters a great deal but I think it would be nice to have more size for the pictures. All in all, this was a good purchase but not an amazing one.

Incredibly helpful in breaking down poses!

I’m new to yoga, and I’m still learning the basics. This book has been incredibly helpful in breaking down poses. Would be nice in a spiral bound for reference while in the middle of my practice. Please note this book is a guide to how to achieve poses and gives you advise with what poses pair well with others in your flow. It’s designed to be a reference book not a step by step flow guide so please don’t rate this book based on not supporting a feature it’s not designed for.
