The noted research psychiatrist and New York Times-bestselling author explores how Transcendental Meditation permanently alters your daily consciousness, resulting in greater productivity, emotional resilience, and aptitude for success.

Most of us believe that we live in only three states of consciousness: wakefulness, sleep, and dreaming. But there is so much more.

In Super Mind, clinical psychiatrist and bestselling author Norman E. Rosenthal, M.D., shows how the incredibly simple daily practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM) can permanently improve your state of mind during the routine hours of waking life–placing you into a super-mind state of consciousness where you consistently perform at peak aptitude.

In his most ambitious and practical book yet, Rosenthal shows how TM is more than a tool for destressing or for general wellness. It is a gateway to functioning physically, emotionally, and intellectually at levels we never knew we could attain. Written in Rosenthal's trademark style of restraint and intellectual carefulness, Super Mind explores how we can aspire to so much more than we ever thought possible.

Learn about TM and the development of consciousness

 on May 23, 2016
By Rolf Erickson
It’s great to see a book about Transcendental Meditation that goes beyond dealing with stress, anxiety, and health problems. Sure, TM is proven by scientific research to decrease stress, bring relief from anxiety, and restore good health. But Maharishi originally brought TM to the Western world as a simple and universal practice to develop our consciousness. And that is what this technique can do right from the start, even as it is restoring balance in the body and mind. My experience is that year by year I have known, understood, and appreciated myself and my life on increasingly deeper levels. This has led to more richness, compassion, and fulfillment as the years have gone by. Thank you, Dr. Rosenthal, for sharing a more complete vision of the benefits of TM.

An exciting and fresh look at the most simple and reliable technique of meditation on the planet!

Dr. Rosenthal presents a thought provoking and stunning insight into the remarkable frontier of consciousness through human stories, scientific research and ancient wisdom. You feel as though he is sitting next to you and talking to you.

An Extraordinary Book from an Extraordinary Mind.

I believe that Norman Rosenthal is one of the great minds of our time. It was his brilliant insight and team that discovered Seasonal affective disorder (S.A.D.)—quite a courageous and bold achievement for someone who was so highly respected in the often narrow-minded, conservative and staid profession of pharma-based psychiatry. In his book “Transcend” he reviewed the strong research and many personal experiences of using meditation to reduce stress and improve life. Up until recently, this too was considered too far afield for some in the world of psychiatry. But now he broadens the scope and uses the lens of science to rediscover and validate ancient technologies that can better our lives. This is not just good science, it’s science at it’s best. Bravo to all scientists who use the rigors of objective research to help discover what can further the human condition, no matter what the original source.

Best book on Transcendental Meditation

If you feel like a Robot in this world, feeling stressed out or just want to learn about Transcendental meditation then this is it. Very eye opening. I bought this book since it was recommended by Ray Dalio who is the founder of the biggest hedge fund. I am a firm believer that TM will change your life in many ways. I have experienced it myself. I didn’t get any headache after practicing it twice daily and also I feel more energy and more detached from all the noise in this world. I feel better at work and in personal life. My soul is more at peace. Everyone should read this. I don’t write reviews much or give five stars unless its that good! If you just read this book and don’t practice TM then it won’t do much good for you.

Unique Amongst the TM Books I’ve Read

 on May 17, 2016
By Bob Dillin
This book offers something unique from the other TM books I’ve seen. In it, the author explains not just the pedestrian effects of TM like better health and sleep, but delves deep into the potential for higher consciousness. An inspiring read that opens the door for the understanding and experience of self development in its highest form. Enlightenment in a true and measurable form including testimonials and research to illustrate the reality that it’s possible, even in the West, even amidst the tidal wave of stimuli and stress that is our modern day to day experience. It leaves me hopeful that my dreams of a higher quality of consciousness and life are really possible.

It’s what happens *after* meditation that really counts

 on June 2, 2016
By Dean Draznin
I really enjoyed reading Super Mind and found Dr. Rosenthal to be an excellent writer. No, the book doesn’t teach you Transcendental Meditation–you learn that from a teacher in a simple 4-step course. However, it provides a clear vision of how it’s possible to live in a “super mind” state characterized by peak performance, unshakable inner peace and happiness, and uncanny, synchronous good luck. Most compelling: the book is based on 600 interviews conducted by Dr. Rosenthal with people who had practiced TM regularly over time. Their personal experiences were worth sharing and often inspiring. While meditation is great, it’s what happens *after* meditation–with your eyes open–that really counts. The technique works for regular people and celebrities alike, and I found it interesting to hear the range of experiences. Bottom line: accessing your super mind is transforming to life. Good news: everyone has one. I highly recommend this for your summer reading list.
