I’ve recently gotten back into working out and I decided to do home workouts as opposed to going to the gym since exercising outside in Wisconsin during the winter is almost impossible to do. I tried a new workout video and discovered I needed an exercise mat since I’m working out on a hardwood floor. I had never purchased a yoga/exercise mat before so I shopped around on here and came upon this one. I liked the overall ratings, length, price, and color selection so I decided to purchase this one.

great cushioning, may make squeaking noises!

Definitely very thick and nice to stand, kneel, and put elbows on. However, when I first started using it (on a hardwood floor) it would be constantly squeaking whenever I moved. This was quite annoying so I put an old yoga mat underneath to fix this problem. Later, I tried flipping the yoga mat upside down, this also does the trick. So, now that the squeaking is gone this is a nice quality yoga mat that has excellent cushioning.

Thick, and long.

It’s a nice full sized mat, so my feet don’t hang off the end. (I’m 5’5″). Thicker than my friend’s mats which seem to be paper thin. We work out on a concrete floor so I wanted a little more padding. This helps more than those thin mats do.

Saved me from a bruised back

Being a “hard-core” tough Soldier, I thought I could get away with doing an ab workout on my carpet. Yeah… No way. I had a sore, bruised back for days. I decided I needed a pad. There are a lot of choices, but I knew I needed one thick enough to absorb the impact of my spine and long enough to handle the length of my body for planking and push-ups. This mat fit the bill! I have not been disappointed. After letting my back heal, I timidly tried this mat, worried that maybe my spine would get bruised again, but no such thing! The mat is certainly thick enough that I don’t feel a jolt when I impact the mat and the force is absorbed into the mat, instead of into my spine. The material is soft, not rigid, so it easily rolls up and unrolls. I was concerned that the inside end rolled up in the middle would stay curled up/under when the mat was fully extended, but that is not the case. Because the mat is not rigid, all I had to do was run my feet across the edge once and it laid flat. The handle that wraps around the mat when it is rolled up is elastic, so it easily stretches over the rolled up mat. Again, I was worried that this would be difficult because none of the reviews discussed the material of the handle. So I’m happy that is it elastic and I don’t have to struggle with it to secure it to the mat.
