I take a little bite of this book every day as if it were a rich dessert. Just the action of reading one or two entries makes me feel so calm and mellow, yet progressively more and more enlightened. Each entry begins with a memorable quotation. The quote can be simple, as in Roethke’s words,”I learn by going where I have to go.” Another quote might be very short, but profound as in “Ignorance creates all the other obstacles” taken from a Yoga sutra. Then the quote is followed by a very short, easy to read experience-based narrative. From that reading, I always learn a lesson or just garner a very useful insight into my own perceptions. I just find this book so useful!

Everybody should own this book! I love the references he uses to make his points – modern rock lyrics, ancient philosophers, eastern and western religious leaders, even 12 step programs. He resonates with me because what he talks about it so human. I enjoy that each day is just a few short paragraphs. The perfect thing to read and contemplate. I great non-denominational daily devotional.

I am currently reading this book. The mechanic is that everyday you must read a very short chapter. I am so inspired and so thankful to start my days with such beautiful words, Yoga explained in such simple life situations and beyond the mat. I find it beautiful, full of light. I highly recommend buying this book.

Wonderful book to supplement yoga practice

I’m using this book for my Yoga Sculpt Teacher Training, and I must say, after reading some of these chapters and answering some journaling questions, my perspective on my life and others have positively transformed. It’s a godsend! I’m still a work in progress, but I highly recommend this book to support anyone in their daily yoga practice. Journaling requires to dig deep and get to the root of things, and that might be uncomfortable at times, but after enduring some of the uncomfortableness, it brought forth a light in my life that I never knew I had within me. Hope you find this book as useful as I did.
