Good Yoga Video, Even if You’re Not a Jillian Fan
I’m starting from the standpoint of years of yoga practice and having taught Pilates professionally for seven years: needless to say, the boot camp style of “Biggest Loser” isn’t exactly what I would go looking for in a yoga tape.
Hard. So hard.
This was TOUGH. waaaay tougher than a slow-flow yoga class. So hard that I literally could not finish it the first dayy on level 1. It reminds me a lot of the 30 day shred, but with yoga poses and reps instead of the running in place or the punches. Honestly, it may have been harder than the 30 day shred. Worthh doing, but know what you’re getting into! 🙂
Best exercise I’ve ever done!
I’ve been doing yoga for a year. Not religiously, but regularly enough. I bought this after a recommendation from a friend. I was surprised at how yoga-centered the exercises really are. I’ve done other “yoga” weight loss classes, and they barely had resemblance of a yoga class. But Jillian has designed a great routine that actually uses yoga poses to work your muscles in just the right way.
Great if you already do yoga; not so great if you don’t.
If you already do yoga and know the names of poses and how to do them well, and you’re looking to punch up your workout, this is a great choice. That does not describe me. I have done a few other JM workouts, and some crossfit work in a gym, and Jillian is really good about about discussing form in those. I took one month of yoga 15 years ago, so I don’t have the background knowledge to do this workout safely without consulting outside sources. I purchased it on Prime Video, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get a refund. I think I have enough knowledge that I could focus on learning the poses she uses from a book or youtube video so that I can come back to this video. It looks like a really great workout if you have a the yoga foundation, with a strong focus on flexibility. I think it would fit well in my workout options if I take the time to prepare myself to do it. One strike against it is that Jillian has a “beginner” model on the right and an advanced model on the left. The camera is almost always pointed at the advanced model, which is not very helpful for someone like me. I think this might be one of her earlier videos, because her team does a better job with showing the range of modifications in other videos. My biggest beef is with the video is that there’s not much time to get set in the poses before the movement begins. Be prepared to pause it a lot while you learn the routine. I guess that’s true of most workouts though. I think it could be a very effective workout for building core strength and flexibility for the right person.
Good workout if you have plantar fasciitis
I am very fond of these workouts for many reasons. Last year my plantar fasciitis came back with a vengeance and Jillian’s Yoga Meltdown and her other videos helped my foot tremendously. Now anytime my plantar fascia gets irritated whether it’s from a workout and/or I don’t stretch properly, I know that I can do a session of Yoga Meltdown and feel much better afterwards. I like to do these workouts in combination with massaging my foot, ankles, and calves with either a fasciablaster and/or a running stick, sometimes ice, and a strassberg sock to sleep with at night. Gone are the days when I wake up and my foot is in a lot of pain. If you are looking for a good workout with limited time, this video will certainly do just that. It’s body strength training using yoga moves, which is extremely helpful if you are a super busy person. You WILL sweat, so be prepared to have a hand towel handy. I know major Yogi’s may do this video and claim it’s not real yoga, which is a fair point. If you are looking for a mindful yoga video that incorporates meditation, it’s best to look elsewhere. I usually do Jivamukti yoga if I’m in the mood for that.

I tried this CD for the first time last night. It really got the blood flowing and put me in some pain. I really like the CD, more workout and no yoga meditating or chanting.. good workout! Would recommend.

This is the one for me. I am new to yoga and I wanted something for strength, stretching and toning without meditation and having to talk to my body parts. She explains each posture well and is pleasant.

this is the first DVD I have ever bought with her workouts and its my favorite! awesome routines that will make you drip sweat! still easy for anyone starting working out for the first time. Since this DVD I have bought 6 weeks six pack, Killer buns and thighs and Killer Arms and Back. WORTH IT! DO IT! Feel better, confident and its only about 30 minutes for each routine in her videos! do it right after work and feel great that you to the time out of your day to do something for your health. they take such little time I work 40+ hours a week and have to cook dinner and take care of 16 chickens and still make time for my little cousins soccer games. If I can do it! you can do it!

Yoga Meltdown will get you up and going so get ready to rock. The DVDs has a beginner and advanced mode but one thing I found hard was to watch the video and perform the exercises at the same time. I recommend that you watch the DVD before you start to exercise so that you can see what to do next.
I lost 3 pounds the 1st week i used this video. It kicks your butt & I love it. I hate every second of the work out, but love the results. It’s not difficult to do the moves, as my 9 & 14 year old girls can do it with me. But to keep going is hard. I hate working our, but do it because I don’t want to turn into the good year blimp. I like this video as well as her 30 day shred.
