I’m starting from the standpoint of years of yoga practice and having taught Pilates professionally for seven years: needless to say, the boot camp style of “Biggest Loser” isn’t exactly what I would go looking for in a yoga tape.

I’ve been doing yoga for a year. Not religiously, but regularly enough. I bought this after a recommendation from a friend. I was surprised at how yoga-centered the exercises really are. I’ve done other “yoga” weight loss classes, and they barely had resemblance of a yoga class. But Jillian has designed a great routine that actually uses yoga poses to work your muscles in just the right way.

This is the one for me. I am new to yoga and I wanted something for strength, stretching and toning without meditation and having to talk to my body parts. She explains each posture well and is pleasant.

Incorporate yoga while improving fitness and also easy on the knees!

I have been doing Jillian workouts on and off for 5+ years, but this year I have also incorporated some beginner yoga to improve my flexibility and better strengthen my core and stabilizing muscles. I also needed an option one or two days a week that involved less jumping/ impact because my knees were starting to get sore with non-stop interval training. I did “Yoga for Beginners with Barbara Benagh” twice per week for about 3 months to properly learn the yoga poses and get more comfortable with it, then felt like I was ready for more of a challenge and wanted to feel like I was getting a workout on my yoga days. This Yoga Meltdown DVD does just that. She really does incorporate true yoga poses, but she adds reps along with holds and you really do feel like you get a workout. I am intermediate fitness level, but to feel like I get a really truly challenging workout I need to either do both Level 1 and Level 2 back to back, or do a 30 minute video like one of the Shred levels and then do Level 1 or 2 of Yoga Meltdown. Since I got this video last month I have really really enjoyed doing it and I actually look forward to the days I get to do one or both of these workouts. I don’t use yoga to do a lot of meditating or “mind clearing” but I have become a firm believer in how it can improve your fitness level and functionality. For those that have mentioned that this is tough on the hands/wrists/elbows- yes it is, but it does seem like if you work into it with modifications that it actually gets easier as those areas become more strong. Still, if you have carpal tunnel syndrome, or tennis elbow, I would say this is not for you.

Most workout videos become repetitive and boring, but I really love this one and will never get tired of it

I have never been one to enjoy the gym. I like working out whenever I can fit it in and found that I’m way more consistent at home. I have had three c-sections and nothing has worked as well on my ruined abs as these workouts. My arms are trimmed and toned. Body strength training has gradual results so you need to stick with it. I’m so glad I did. I was looking for something to tone and shape my body, and lose those last ten pounds of baby weight. Nothing extreme. The workouts are the perfect balance of challenge and practicality. I have seen great results in the three months I have consistently worked out 5-6 times a week, and the self discipline to do these workouts has come quite naturally because I really enjoy the workouts and Jillian’s approach. * I will add that it would not be enjoyable if I wasn’t pretty flexible to begin with. If you are looking for more cardio and weights, I recommend the 30 day shred.

Great if you already do yoga; not so great if you don’t.

If you already do yoga and know the names of poses and how to do them well, and you’re looking to punch up your workout, this is a great choice. That does not describe me. I have done a few other JM workouts, and some crossfit work in a gym, and Jillian is really good about about discussing form in those. I took one month of yoga 15 years ago, so I don’t have the background knowledge to do this workout safely without consulting outside sources. I purchased it on Prime Video, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get a refund. I think I have enough knowledge that I could focus on learning the poses she uses from a book or youtube video so that I can come back to this video. It looks like a really great workout if you have a the yoga foundation, with a strong focus on flexibility. I think it would fit well in my workout options if I take the time to prepare myself to do it. One strike against it is that Jillian has a “beginner” model on the right and an advanced model on the left. The camera is almost always pointed at the advanced model, which is not very helpful for someone like me. I think this might be one of her earlier videos, because her team does a better job with showing the range of modifications in other videos. My biggest beef is with the video is that there’s not much time to get set in the poses before the movement begins. Be prepared to pause it a lot while you learn the routine. I guess that’s true of most workouts though. I think it could be a very effective workout for building core strength and flexibility for the right person.

Jillian usually bothers me but I actually really like her in these workouts. They are definitely tough bc you’re always moving yet I don’t feel exhausted afterwards; I feel really good! I’m pretty damn sore the next day too! Especially after level two. They are both full body workouts that will have you sweating like crazy but I think level one has a little more focus on upper body and level two had a little more lower body. One of the girls does modifications and one does more advanced, so there’s room to grow the stronger you get.

I lost 3 pounds the 1st week i used this video. It kicks your butt & I love it. I hate every second of the work out, but love the results. It’s not difficult to do the moves, as my 9 & 14 year old girls can do it with me. But to keep going is hard. I hate working our, but do it because I don’t want to turn into the good year blimp. I like this video as well as her 30 day shred.

this is the first DVD I have ever bought with her workouts and its my favorite! awesome routines that will make you drip sweat! still easy for anyone starting working out for the first time. Since this DVD I have bought 6 weeks six pack, Killer buns and thighs and Killer Arms and Back. WORTH IT! DO IT! Feel better, confident and its only about 30 minutes for each routine in her videos! do it right after work and feel great that you to the time out of your day to do something for your health. they take such little time I work 40+ hours a week and have to cook dinner and take care of 16 chickens and still make time for my little cousins soccer games. If I can do it! you can do it!

I love this workout! It’s a really fast paced yoga, no time for meditation and going deep into the poses but boy did I sweat! The poses are not really challenging, it was all doable ( im in my early 30s and consider myself fit) but I was so sore the next day. Level 1 focuses more on the upper part of your body while level 2 on your legs and buns. I actually found level 2 little bit more challenging. Highly recommended for those who look forward to a full body workout without cardio.
