Yoga or Adult Nap Mat: You Decide

Bought this so I could try out yoga for the first time. Although yoga damn near killed me, this mat was awesome. It was a little longer than the other mats in the room, but it did the job (even if it was just for one time). I now keep the mat in my office at work just in case I need to use it as an adult nap mat (it’s that long). Yoga sucks, but this mat rocks.

Great little mat.

Great little exercise mat. The 1/4″ thick neoprene is enough to cushion effectively even when exercising on concrete floors. Ample width even for a wide body like me, and the 6′ 2″ length is more than enough for me to stretch out on. Although this one is one of the best prices around I still think it’s too much, especially when the same mat in a less attractive color is two bucks less. The elastic carry strap is another dandy accessory.

Good mat at a great value

I am newer to yoga in general, and I bought this mat only knowing that I needed one for class, and not much else. I didn’t really know what makes a great mat, or what one might look for in a mat. I only knew that I didn’t want to spend a ton since I was just dipping my toes in the water. Now, several weeks into my classes, I can say that I am definitely a yoga enthusiast! So, after getting some real use out of this mat, I have made the following observations:

An excellent buy

I really like this mat!

Nice quality, but very soft.

The mat is very nice. I like the feel, it is nice and soft, and I like the carry system as well. What I noticed is when using this mat, I get a sore back vs just being on my hardwoods. So, I don’t know if it is this mat is too soft, or if any mat would do this to me, but I went back to using the hardwood floors, and my wife uses this mat. She raves about it being more comfortable than her other foam core mat she originally had. So, if a really soft mat bothers your back like it seems to bother mine, you may want to avoid this one, but otherwise, based on my wife’s review of it, she loves it.

I bought this as a beginner to the world of yoga. I was looking for a mat that I could use in my home for following along with yoga DVDs. This arrived on time and packaged neatly with a carry strap as shown. The mat itself is a nice width and length and has a nice amount of cushion. I use this on my hardwood floors and am unable to feel the floor underneath. I do find the mat to be a little slippery if my palms get sweaty, but otherwise a great purchase for my level of use. If you are an avid yoga fan, I would reccomend this as a backup mat or a great mat for yoga in the park events where you might not want to get a more expensive mat dirty.

Good for Hard Floors

I bought this for my home gym, my other mat was the thicker foam kind, after I remodeled my gym, the thicker foam mat would just slide on top of the wood flooring too much (previously carpet). This mat is much like the cabinet liner stuff you can buy, only thicker. It worked perfectly, only downside is that you don’t get the support of the thick pads, also, if you wear shoes while stretching/yoga, need to be careful about dragging your feet across the mat or you could tear or shred it.
